My Visit to Mother Bog

Light Man

 The Light Man

As I told you a few days ago, I have been proclaimed to be ambassador of Nidlongdir.  I will work as Ambassador of Dragonia.  I am to travel into Nidlongdir to seek out the King and Queen of Apple Hold, to try to make a peace treaty between the black nosed fairies from Dragonia, and the Apple fairies of Apple Hold castle, and Leafenheim City.

This will be a difficult task for me, as both sides claim they have the right to use the apple trees for tree juice production, and apple juice production. The problem is that when the Dragonians, is tapping too much tree juice from the roots of the trees, the apple trees won't bear as many apples for the apple juice production the next fall, and that will make the fairies of Leafenheim starve.

This disagreement has been going on for a long time, King Applestrong of Apple Hold has given the Dragonians two weeks to stop the tree juice tapping, or he will declare war against Dragonia.

I have learned that Nidlongdir is the fairies word for world, so they all live in Nidlongdir. Apple Hold is located north of the city called Leafenheim, and to the east you will find Mother Bog in the Mist where she has a cottage.

To the south you will find the Bat Tunnel to Dragonia. Dragonia is located under ground, beneath the apple trees; there is also a pass into Dagonia from the forbidden gates in many apple trees. You will find the gate where the trunk stops and becomes all roots.  Please go to http://www.nidlongdir.dk to see the maps!

Last night I went to bed prepared to go and visit Mother Bog, who according to The Whispering Leaves is the only person, who can help me to get the right fairy size to be able to travel freely into Nidlongdir. I placed my shoes beside my bed, and put a fern leaf into my left shoe to call for the Light Man to be my guide into the mist. I was told to do so by the Yellow Whispering Leaf. I had packed some matches, and a firecracker from the New Year to pay the Light Man with.

I woke up early in the morning at sunrise, by a strong light in the room, a small gobbling like man, was jumping up and down beside my bed. Come on, he yelled we will be too late to go into the morning mist if you don't hurry up. I trembled out of bed, put on my shoes, and remembered to put on my socks with the inside out, so that the Light Man couldn't take me on any kind of detours, which I had been warned could happen if I didn't wear my socks with the inside out. We left my warm house, and went into the mist on the field next to my garden.

Mother Bog's Cottage

I gave the Light Man a match as payment for the first part of the journey, and promised him the firecracker when we had returned safe back to my house, after my visit to Mother Bog.

We jumped from side to side to avoided to step into any water, and after a few minutes I saw a small cottage in the mist. The door was open, so we went right inside. A tall pale woman greeted me, and asked me to sit on something that looked like a big mushroom. She asked me how she could help me. I told her that I had to travel into Nidlongdir, and that I needed a travelling potion, and a potion to turn me into the size of a fairy. She stirred in a big black pot of mist beer now and then, and I could smell all kinds of flowers. It felt like the mushroom chair got softer and softer, I was so relaxed that I nearly felt asleep while Mother Bog found the potions for me in a big cupboard behind her.

The Light Man pulled me out of the chair and asked me to put the potions into my bag, so he could take me home before the sun got too high on the sky.  I found my purse, and gave Mother Bog two Four Leaf Clovers as payment. She was very happy with the payment! Because paying with Four Leaf Clovers shows that you are aware of the magic of nature.

The Light Man took me home safely, and I gave him the promised firecracker. He bowed for me taking of his flaming hat, and then he disappeared into the morning sun.
